Trio at UAFS
Welcome
The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs
designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
TRIO includes programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation
college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic
pipeline from middle school to post baccalaureate programs.
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith is home to four TRIO programs: Upward Bound
Classic, Upward Bound Math/Science, TRIO SSS, and TRIO STEM. These programs serve
high school students within the greater Fort Smith area, as well as, college students
attending UAFS. Click below to find out more about the individual programs and how
they can support you!
High School
Upward Bound Programs are designed to help area high school students succeed in high school and post-secondary education through: career exploration, ACT preparation, financial literacy, college admission workshops, cultural enrichment activities, individual advising, and personalized tutoring.
College
Student Support Services provide opportunities for academic development, assist students
with basic college requirements, and motivate students toward the successful completion
of their postsecondary education. The goal of SSS is to help participants remain in
college and graduate strong.
