As a diagnostic medical sonographer, you will be critical in helping healthcare providers diagnose and treat various medical conditions. UAFS’s Imaging Sciences – DMS program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in this crucial field.
Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, and patient care. You will learn how to operate ultrasound equipment, produce diagnostic quality images, and work with patients to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures.
In addition to classroom instruction, you will gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations at leading regional healthcare facilities. This experience allows you to work alongside experienced sonographers and healthcare professionals, learning from their expertise and gaining valuable practical experience.
Our program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), upon the recommendation of The Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).
Current Accreditation State: Continuing Accreditation
Upon graduation, you will be eligible to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exam. This credential is highly respected and will help you stand out to potential employers.
