Dr. Nawa Dahal completed his Ph.D. in physics from Boston College, pursuing interdisciplinary research in seismology. He worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Weston Observatory (WO) of Boston College where he established a fully functional system to analyze earthquake source parameters (depth, magnitude, etc.) for small magnitude earthquakes. He used a United States Geological Survey grant to implement his method to study earthquakes in Eastern and Central U.S.
Dr. Dahal uses various pedagogical techniques in his classes including active learning techniques. He has shared his experiences and observations on the use of active learning techniques and its impact on student learning in student mini-conferences at UAFS as well as national conferences. He is an active member of the Physics Education Research Division of the Association of Nepali Physicists in AmericaI and has served on various university committees such as Faculty Senate, Elections, and Policy and Procedures.
