Staff Voices: Cathy Mullis
Cathy Mullis serves as an Administrative Specialist at the front desk of the Plant Operations building, making sure none of our Lions get locked out! She also provides badges and key sets to campus vendors and contractors and approves reservations for golf. She’s an all-around go-to!
Cathy started at UAFS in October of 2021, and loves that every day she gets to meet new people from all walks of life, including faculty, staff, community members, and vendors, making every day unique and exciting.
She is an Alma High School graduate and the sixth of seven children born and raised in Crawford County. She has three beautiful daughters who are the light of her life.
Cathy says the successes of those three young women are easily her proudest accomplishment. Her oldest daughter graduated from UAFS with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Her middle daughter attended UAFS and works in retail, and her youngest daughter is attending beauty college. They’re all pursing their passions and they make her laugh every day.
Though folks looking for new keys might see Cathy’s smiling face, she says most people don’t know that a campus locksmith holds the real keys to campus. She simply helps streamline the process by handling all the paperwork
Cahty is a natural lefty, and enjoys being unique in that way – only ten percent of the world population are thought to be lefthanded. She also enjoys watching Scooby Doo cartoons with her one-eyed black cat named Cyclops.
Cathy’s favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, because she can gather with family, enjoy dinner together, and leave her worries behind, just catching up with what’s going on in loved one’s lives, relaxing and giving thanks for all the blessings.
Cathy says that her favorite thing about UAFS is the beautiful campus. “The grounds are so pretty and peaceful,” she says. If you walk around the Bell Tower during lunch hour, you might just pass her enjoying the scenery.
