Chancellor's Message: 2022 Weather Alert

Last Updated: February 4, 2022 at 4:28 PM

Dear Lions,

I sincerely hope you have stayed safe and warm during this winter weather which caused us to cancel on-campus work and classes. I appreciate the staff who have continued to work hard during this time to secure our campus, provide meals, check our buildings, and clear sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots.  Chartwells, SSC, Plant Operations, and UPD have worked diligently to provide a great campus environment to which we will return over the weekend and next week.

Major Updates

Unless otherwise announced, all classes and business operations will open as usual on Monday, February 7.

  • The Boreham Library will remain closed on Saturday and will open on Sunday, February 6 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This will allow the employees to leave safely before temperatures drop dramatically after dark.
  • The RAWC will be open on Sunday, February 6 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The men's and women's basketball games scheduled on Saturday, February 5 will be postponed. A make-up date/time will be announced soon, if possible.
I will close by expressing my thanks to Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Carey Tucker, and his wife, Gretchen, for serving meals in the Lion's Den when they were short staffed yesterday. I could tell they were happy to serve our students who stayed on campus, and I appreciate their engagement with our campus community.

Thanks to all of you for taking the right steps to stay safe during this inclement weather.

As always, it is my honor to serve as your chancellor.

Terisa Riley, Ph.D.
