Lion Voices: Faith Cureton
Hello Lions! Roaring in this week’s #LionVoices is Faith Cureton. Faith is a first-year lion here at UAFS majoring in History with Social Studies Teacher Licensure. Faith, who is a Van Buren High School alumna, said “I always knew I was going to UAFS because my brother went here and loved it! It is also such an affordable school, which is very rare for most colleges.”
When Faith got to UAFS, she found a kind and helpful environment. “I always enjoy being on campus, because there is always something fun going on.” She also stated that she loves UAFS because the smaller class sizes allow her to connect better with professors and classmates.
Faith loved theater in high school and knew she wanted to continue her passion when she got to UAFS. Faith quickly joined the drama club and was cast in the play A Doll’s House. “I have learned so much from it and have made so many great friends.”
Faith also received scholarships for her performances in high school and placed fourth overall in the Thea Performing Arts Scholarship Competition. “It was strictly a talent-based scholarship, and I sang for it and was excited when I got fourth.”
When asked about her plans after graduation, Faith said, “I want to pursue a career in teaching! I want to teach 11th and 12th grade US History. I have always loved history and can’t wait to pass on my knowledge to others.” Giving praise to her grandpa as her role model and biggest supporter, she said, “he was such a good man and a friend to everyone. He is one of the reasons I love history!”
