Lion Voices - Dominic Mai
Happy Friday, Lions! Today’s #LionVoices feature is Dominic Mai, a sophomore computer design major, concentrating in computer science and AI and president of the Vietnamese Student Association. Dominc chose UAFS because he could be close to his family while being active and engaged on campus.
“The professors at UAFS are really good at teaching their classes. As a computer science major, I don’t understand a lot of the material initially, but my professors make it a lot easier to grasp.”
Dominic also enjoys planning meaningful events that expose and welcome others to Vietnamese culture, including tonight's Lunar New Year celebration.
In many Asian cultures, the Lunar New Year is celebrating with festivals, lucky knot-tying, lion dancing, and more. Dominic has worked with a team of UAFS students to bring the spirit of these celebrations to Fort Smith.
"When I was younger, I was a part of a lion dance group at my temple and enjoyed celebrating
with family and friends. It feels like a show of respect for my culture."
Join Dominic and dozens of other UAFS students, faculty and staff at 5 p.m. tonight at the Bakery District, and celebrate the Year of the Cat (and Rabbit!) with your fellow Lions!
