A panel discussion featuring UAFS administration and students, as well as prominent community members, will be held at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in honor of Black History Month.
Titled “Creating CommUNITY: Campuses, Cops and Citizens of Color,” the panel will include discussions of current issues of race relations in Fort Smith and across the nation. The event, which will be held in the theatre of Windgate Art & Design, is free and open to the community.
Panelists include:
- Dr. Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UAFS.
- Nathaniel Clark, chief of the Fort Smith Police Department.
- Ray Ottman, chief of the UAFS Police Department.
- Talicia Richardson, community activist.
- Lauren Robinson, UAFS student and president of the Black Student Association.
- Leslie Lee, UAFS student and member of the Student Government Association.
Dr. Mike Crane, assistant professor of history at UAFS, will serve as the moderator.
The panel is sponsored by the Black Student Association, the Student Affairs Office, the UAFS Police Department and the Student Government Association.
