Adjusting to college life can be hard. The 22 resident assistants named for the upcoming year at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith plan to make it easier.  

Twelve new RAs will join 10 returning ones and the rest of the housing crew for the 2018-19 academic year at UAFS. RAs will serve in the Lion’s Den residential housing and the Sebastian Commons apartments.

“The RAs are one of the top reasons that living on campus is a ‘value-added’ experience compared to other living options,” said Beth Eppinger, director of housing and residential life. “The RAs provide social and educational events, they assist in mediations, they connect residents to campus resources, and they provide a safe and fun home.”

New RAs include:

Booneville: Josh Scott, Lion’s Den.

Elkins: Emily Dyke, Lion’s Den.

Farmington: Shandreka McCullough, Sebastian Commons.  

Fort Smith: Davin Chitwood, Sebastian Commons.

Greenland: Zac Wolfe, Sebastian Commons.

Lavaca: Breanna Noble, Lion’s Den.

Lee’s Summit, Mo.: Noelle Miller, Lion’s Den.

Mulberry: Kyla Murders, Sebastian Commons.

Pacific Grove, Calif.: Myles Kerchner, Lion’s Den.

Pea Ridge: Allie Van Houden, Lion’s Den.

Russellville: Bheyleigh Nufer, Sebastian Commons.

West Fork: Madison Coker, Lion’s Den.

Returning RAs who will serve in the Lion’s Den are Edith Aleke of Warri, Nigeria; Ethan Hamilton of Mena; Austin Merriott of Hot Springs, Savannah Page of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Johnny Resendiz of Fort Smith; Tori Seaman of West Fork; and Steven Stone of Lamar.

Returning RAs for the Sebastian Commons are Anthony Osagwu of Asaba, Nigeria; Michelle Perez of Green Forest; and Samantha Strain of Hot Springs.

To become a resident assistant, students must attend an information session in February, complete an application packet, go through a group interview process and a background check, and participate in individual interviews.
