Next month, Fort Smith residents will be able to celebrate the holidays with the return of Mannheim Steamroller to Fort Smith for two concerts Dec. 9 at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.
The celebrated musical group will perform at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $53 or $55 depending on seating tier. The concert is part of Season of Entertainment 38, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
Formed in 1974 by Chip Davis, Mannheim Steamroller went on to become the most successful Christmas musical act in the world, enjoying mass acclaim for its rock interpretations of classic holiday songs. The group has sold more than 40 million albums and has performed across the nation, including at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
UAFS previously hosted Mannheim Steamroller in 2016 for two shows as part of Season of Entertainment 36. The enormous success of those shows caused the university to bring them back again, according to Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events.
“Both of Mannheim’s 2016 shows sold out, and we expect this year’s shows to be just as successful,” Jones said. “They will put on another electric show that is sure to please the audience.”
