Are you a licensed dental hygienist looking to earn your Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene?
UAFS offers a fully online completion program for licensed dental hygienists who currently hold an A.A.S. degree in dental hygiene and are looking to complete a Bachelor of Science.
This program offers a flexible and cost-effective opportunity to expand basic dental hygiene knowledge and skills into areas such as public health and education and may benefit future career endeavors including graduate study. Applicants may complete the program on a full- or part-time basis, and there are no site visits or clinical hours required.
Once all pre-program requirements have been met, this program can be completed with as few as 32 credit hours. A separate program admission application process is required.
Successful completion of the program prepares graduates for many additional career options in the field including dental hygiene educator, public health specialist, and dental researcher.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual median wage for dental hygienists in 2023 was $87,530.
Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (Traditional)
The Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene prepares students to serve as consumer advocates for oral healthcare. They are an integral part of the dental team, able to provide instruction and therapeutic services in the prevention of oral diseases. The curriculum combines general education, biomedical and dental sciences, and hygiene courses that provide didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences. A separate program admission application process is required.
Certificate of Proficiency
This 9-credit hour program provides curriculum designed for those in helping professions such as human services, health care organizations, educators, and others. Courses include Intermediate Spanish I, II, and Spanish for the Professions. Beginning Spanish I and II or required placement scores are prerequisites for Intermediate Spanish I. CODA Accreditation
The program in dental hygiene is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of "approval without reporting requirements."
