Lion Pride Pantry
The pantry originally began as a blessing box-style pantry in fall 2019. When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, the pantry began giving out food bags at its current location inside the Recreation and Wellness Center (RAWC). At the request of the Student Government Association, the Lion Pride Pantry was renamed the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry in fall 2020. The pantry is co-managed by Meighan Pendergrass, RAWC, and Dr. Dave Stevens, associate vice chancellor and dean of students.
Eligible patrons can visit the pantry once per week for food, school supplies, and household and personal care items. The pantry is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Students who need to access the pantry after pantry hours may contact UPD at 479-788-7140.
FAQs
UAFS undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and contract partners are eligible to use the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry.
The Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry provides free food, school supplies, and life items to eligible patrons in need of assistance.
Each sack of food will typically contain the following:
- canned vegetables
- fruit cups
- soups
- pasta or rice
- breakfast items
- snack items
- canned meats
- peanut butter
- jelly
Other items are available for selection.
Volunteers are always needed to stock and organize the pantry and to fill food sacks and holiday meal boxes. If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Pantry@uafs.edu.
The Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry is funded through the support of our kind and generous donors.
Individual Donations: The pantry accepts non-perishable food, personal care, and household items such as:
- canned vegetables
- canned soup
- pasta and sauce
- canned meat
- mac and cheese
- breakfast items
- rice
- ramen noodles
- fruit cups
- peanut butter
- jelly
Amazon Wishlist: You may also choose to support the pantry by making a purchase from our Amazon Wishlist.
Drop-off Location: The pantry is located on the west side of the RAWC. Donations can be dropped off at the pantry during operating hours or at the Dean of Students Office, Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center 201-C.
Fundraisers/Drives: Organizations, churches, and student groups are welcome to support the pantry by sponsoring fundraising events or non-perishable food, toiletry, or school supply drives. If you would like to sponsor an event, please contact us at Pantry@uafs.edu.
